restaurant influenced by an artist's backyard by metaphor...the idea for this restaurant in bangkok, designed by thai architecture firm metaphor was a 'glass house in an artist's backyard'. through the unique use of color, light and geometry, metaphor has carefully choreographed the 140 sqm space to feel like a relaxed creative's den. paintings, sketches, paper with musical notes and even instruments help create this engaging atmosphere. a key feature in the middle of the layout is an open cooking table, inviting guests into the space and encouraging them to experiment menu options with the chef. with a seating capacity of 52 the dining area can be divided to cater for private parties, through the closing of a large curtain. the materials and lighting help to accentuate the sensory environment, the walls are a pale grey brick and soft, diffuse up-lighting indirectly fills the space along the metal arch detail. several balloon pendant lamps hang from the exposed ceiling reflecting off large tilted mirrors.
